Mohawk Valley's Harley Fuller is Named NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Coach of the Year
Charlotte, NC – Four seasons is all one coach needed to forever impact his team and lead them to history. Harley Fuller of Mohawk Valley Community College led the Hawks to their first NJCAA National Title in program history, earning him 2025 NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Coach of the Year honors.
Fuller joined the Hawks in 2022, immediately affecting the success of the program. He has compiled a record of 90-28 while leading the team to two national tournament appearances, once in 2023 and again in 2025. With the Hawk's championship victory this year, Fuller was named 2025 NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball Coach of the Tournament as well as NJCAA Region 3 Coach of the Year and NJCAA Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year. Fuller's impact on the NJCAA has been unparalleled.
"I'm extremely honored to receive this prestigious honor. This award is a testament to the hard work of our student athletes, my staff consisting of Ray Daley, Dylan Drexler and Luis Ramos, and the continued support of our administration/athletic department," said Fuller.
The 2025 season was one of Mohawk Valley's strongest. With Fuller leading the pack, the Hawks completed an historic 29-1 season ending with ten straight wins and a national championship victory. Their defensive prowess became a key factor in their success this season. They led the nation in points allowed per game with 61.8 while finishing top ten in defensive rebounds per game, as well as 3PT %, total rebounds per game and offensive efficiency.
Entering the 2025 NJCAA National Tournament as the No. 2 seed, the Hawks put on strong performances the entire way through. Mohawk Valley faced off against a familiar foe, the Herkimer Generals for the fourth time this year in the championship game. In a tight battle for the title, the Hawks were able to hold the lead until the end to defeat the Generals 58-51.
"I can't stress enough this is the true definition of a team award. Winning this award as the Head Coach of Mohawk Valley Community College at this first-class institution with amazing people makes it even sweeter," Fuller said.
The culture instilled by Fuller will continue to have an impact on the Mohawk Valley Men's Basketball program for years to come. The grit and energy of the Hawks under the leadership of Fuller has been palpable and will evolve further as each new season comes along.
